I saw this little rowing boat in Lerwick harbour in Shetland and immediately felt very drawn to it. I started off painting this in watercolour in my sketchbook and then wanted to return to it - I particularly loved the yellow oars in the vessel and the clear (but very cold) minty-coloured waters.
